I have not posted on this thingy in ages. Why? Well because sometimes I am an unmotivated sad bear who thinks.. hey whats the point of writing in something no one reads? However, Nicole(my brain twin and wife) is moving to Portland at the end of this month. So I must share the inner workings of my brain yet again.
Now I have to admit there are a ton of cute bloggys in the world. They are so cute and classy all the time! I love cuteness as well but I feel that a major part of who I am has been missing. Probably due to the fact I was with someone who was repulsed and disgusted by my unlady like humor. Yes while we all share a love for cute and classy adorableness I would most likely be wearing a dainty dress surrounded by adorable things watching some nerd things like zombie movies/skateboarding/MST3K/or The State.

What I am trying to say is I can't be all cute all the time like some cute ladies all up on these cute blogs that I read. I really hate the word blog it makes me feel wrong inside. Thats besides the point. I need to express the inner nerd/slightly gross and offensive person within.

I will start with cuteness for now. Nicole and I have basically fell in love with this local musician who lives in LA and we are going to her show tomorrow night. Her name is Kate Micucci. What can I say I am a sucker for adorable girls who play the ukulele and have videos about deers! You can download her music here.

After seeing some of her art at the museum I wanted to check out more of Saelee Oh. She has the cutest website ever and the cutest art!! She does these really detailed cut outs that are so adorable!

She also collaborates with Jill Blissen and they have super cute things to buy in her Lemonade Maid shop. I personally love these little houses.

I kind of need that cat house with chickie nuggy paws in my life.

Giant Robot Biennale

Yesterday I went to the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles to see Last day of the Giant Robot Exhibition.

I went in knowing of some the artist but not all of them. Seonna Hong and Apak were the one I knew of. Apak was amazing... I love their use of color and how small and detailed it it. I was also really impressed with Saelee Oh and Souther Salazar.

La Doublure + Mon Meilleur Ami

I have been watching a lot of French movies from netflix and I thought I would start doing movie recommendations.

First is Doublure, La - The Valet

Second is Mon meilleur ami - My Best Friend

They are both kind of light hearted movies, they both have the actors Dany Boon and Daniel Auteuil in them, though their characters are very different in each movie.

While I really enjoyed The Valet I think if I had to pick between the two I would say My Best Friend, it just had a sincerity about it that I loved. I was going to put the trailers but the American trailers do not do the movies justice.

I went to see the new Wes Anderson Movie, The Darjeeling Limited in Los Angeles at the Arc Light last Friday with my sister and friends. I really loved the movie, and of course the style of it. Throughout the movie the brothers played byOwen Wilson, Jason Schwartzman, and Adrien Brody have their father's luggage which is designed by Wes Anderson and Marc Jacobs. I can't think of anyone else I would want luggage designed by.

Flock Shop - LA

I spent the day with my friend Nancy in LA in China Town. She took me to this super cute boutique called the Flock Shop.
The main reason why I started my blog was to discover unique places that I enjoy but i shortly got discouraged because I found out that a lot of people who own the shops are not very approachable.
This was not the case with Flock Shop they have super cute stuff and they were very welcoming and nice, the kind of store that makes you want to come back and support them. They even let me take pictures :)

So I need to admit that I have been holding back in my blogging as far as being scared of posting certain things. While I admire and appreciate unique and beautiful art, home décor, clothing, illustrations and photography I also have this weird sense of humor and randomness that I have been hiding in my blog… Well no more.

First order of dorky business

My family and I have been huge fans of the show Mystery Science Theater 3000 for a long time now.
The show was cancelled awhile ago and it’s been nothing but reruns since until we found rifftrax which is made by Michael Nelson… host of MST3K. Rifftrax is like MST3K except it is only the audio of Michael Nelson and frequently Crow and Servo accompany him while they make fun of new movies. I just watched Top Gun with my Rifftrax and it makes me happy in my nerd heart.
So show some love and support to the MST3K guys and buy you some Rifftrax... its ultra funny and you wont regret it.

Today I went to Hollywood with my husband. First we stopped by Tim & Eric's office because he painted their office awhile ago, everyone was really nice. He might get a graphic design job there which would be awesome.
After that we went to an art show at the new image art gallery to see Evan Hecox's work. He has done art for Chocolate Skateboards.

Then we went to Sprinkles which I have heard so much about. While the appearance and design is great I have to admit I was pretty disappointed. We had to wait in line for 20 min. The customer service was pretty bad, but hey it's LA so its not that surprising.

The Lab

After my beach trip with my husband was cut short we thought we were returning home, but the 5 freeway had other plans. We got off the nearest exit looking to find some food, but we ended up finding The Lab in Costa Mesa.

The best way for me to describe The Lab is a creative farmer’s market that is open all day. It includes many shops; Urban Outfitters and Buffalo Exchange are the more noted ones, and several independent boutiques such as Great Laundry and Harlow.

The Lab also has 3 restaurants, Habana a Cuban restaurant, The Gypsy Den Café if you want coffee, and Zipangu an authentic Japanese sushi restaurant.

It was a very nice relaxing and creative atmosphere, I didn’t get to eat at any of the restaurants but it’s a great excuse to come back. Who would have known getting stuck in traffic could be a good thing.
